This Privacy Policy explains what information TaraGarden ("we," "us," operated by The InGen Corporation / InGen Publishing) collects, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the TaraGarden app and website at taragarden.ai.
The short version: We collect what we need to run your garden and your subscription — your account info, your plants and photos, and your location. We use trusted providers (Stripe for payments, Anthropic for Tara's AI, a weather service) to make the app work. We do not sell your personal data. You can access or delete your data anytime.

2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service: identify and track your plants, generate Tara's guidance, build watering plans, and run irrigation features you enable.
- To personalize recommendations to your specific garden, climate zone, and local weather.
- To process your subscription, free trial, and renewals through Stripe.
- To communicate with you about your account, billing, and the Service.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
3. How Tara's AI Works With Your Data
Tara is powered by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude). When you chat with Tara or use plant identification, relevant information — such as your message, plant photos, and garden context — is sent to that provider to generate a response. This data is used to provide the feature to you. We choose providers that handle data under their own privacy and security commitments, and we do not authorize them to use your content to train their models beyond what is necessary to provide the service to us.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with service providers who help us run TaraGarden, and only as needed:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- Anthropic — AI processing for Tara's responses and plant identification.
- Weather and mapping services — to provide local forecasts and resolve your location to a climate zone.
- Legal — if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (for example, billing records) to meet legal or accounting obligations.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & update — you can view and edit your garden data and account information in the app.
- Delete — you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.
- Cancel — you can cancel your subscription anytime via "Manage Subscription" in the app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of passwords and secure handling of payment data through Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
TaraGarden is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
